- What’s included in monthly bookkeeping services?
- Standard bookkeeping includes categorization of all business accounts, account reconciliation, review of financial statements, and adjustment additions as necessary.
- How long does catch-up bookkeeping usually take?
- Whether we are hired for a current year catch-up or prior year cleanup, most of the projects we take on are completed within 30 days. Keep these factors in mind, because they can affect the timeframe: length of time behind, time taken to provide needed documentation, volume of transactions, previous bookkeeping errors.
- Can you fix books if a previous bookkeeper made a mistake?
- Yes! We love cleanups, and having to fix mistakes is more common than you’d think. Almost every mistake that’s made can be fixed, it’s just a matter of how complicated it is and how much time it takes to undo.
- Why do bank reconciliations matter for a small business?
- Reconciliations are important because they will tell you if any changes have been made since the last reconciliation that affected your bank balance, and tell you if you have any missing or duplicated transactions which affects everything from your bank balance to your financial statements.
- How do financial reports help me make business decisions?
- Looking at several reports as a whole can allow you to see profitability (from the whole business down to the different services you offer depending on how your Chart of Accounts is structured), are you getting a Return on Investments, why your business shows profit but cash is always tight, and more. This allows you to make decisions on whether or not to continue services or increase prices, whether to increase or pull back on investing, and where your cash is going.
